Russia eyes 27-million-tonne grain export by July 1
By July 1, Russia seeks to transport 27 million tonnes of grain for the 2011-12 crop year, the president of the Russian Grain Union, Arkady Zlochevsky, stated on Wednesday (May 29).
By the end of the season there will be slightly less than 20 million tonnes of grain at the country's storage containers. Thus, the next season's export potential will make up around 30 million tonnes, he said.
Zlochevsky noted that Russia would maintain its grain harvest at the level of 2011 - 94 million tonnes, including 56 million tonnes of wheat.
