Australian beef stocks tighten in Japan
Australia beef stocks in Japan are getting thinner, with wholesale prices nearly similar or slightly higher than a month ago despite lower buying interest.
In the beef offal market, Australian frozen tongue prices have been recovery since April to about JPY1,525 (US$16.1) per kg, up 67 percent from two months ago but down 12 percent year-on-year.
Japanese buying inquiries for Australian tongues and other offal items were strong last week, along with ongoing interest in briskets, particularly navel-end.
