Ukraine's grain stock to top 63 million tonnes

 

 

The supply of grain in Ukraine will reach more than 63 million tonnes for 2012, including carry-over stocks.

 

This forecast was aired by Deputy Director of the Economic Development and Agrarian Market Department at the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry Serhiy Petrenko during the All-Ukrainian Agroindustrial Forum 2012, which has opened in Kyiv on Tuesday (May 29), an UKRINFORM's correspondent reports.

 

"According to preliminary estimates, we forecasted that we will gather 45-46 million tonnes of grain crops in 2012-2013 marketing year (July-June). We have specified this index, as of May 28 it makes up 47.2 million tonnes of all grain crops in Ukraine," the agency representative said.

 

He reminded that in 2011, grain crops production was estimated at 56.7 million tonnes.

 

Petrenko also informed that the ministry expects the grain yield in 2012 within 54-60 million tonnes, the export forecast is 20-24 million tonnes, out of these, about 6-10 million tonnes is wheat, corn - 11.5-12.5 million tonnes, barley - about 3.5 million tonnes.
