European Commission completes check on Ukrainian poultry
The European Commission's Directorate General for Health and Consumer Affairs (Sanco) has completed inspection of Ukrainian poultry enterprises, said Mykola Osadchyi, the head of the press service of the State Committee for Veterinary Medicine.
"Inspectors from Sanco have already completed inspection of our enterprises," Osadchyi said. In particular, he said that the inspectors inspected enterprises producing poultry meat, goose liver, and powdered eggs.
According to Osadchyi, Ukraine is presently awaiting the inspectors' preliminary report on the inspections. Osadchyi did not disclose the number of enterprises that were inspected.
Inspectors from the European Commission began inspecting Ukrainian poultry enterprises in mid-May this year.
At the end of the inspections that were conducted in June 2009, Sanco said that there were no guarantees of conformance of poultry goods produced in Ukraine to the standards of the EU.
