China to ban products from nations with FMD and bird flu
China would ban the import of animals and animal products from nations with bird flu or foot-and-mouth disease, according to a notification from its Ministry of Agriculture Tuesday (May 27).
The notification said that avian products from Denmark and Botswana, two countries hit by the disease, would be returned or burnt.
If these products were discovered on ships, aircrafts or trains in transit in China or stopped in China, they would be sealed.
China's quarantine inspection authorities would heighten efforts to ensure the safety of the food in China, the notification said.
