Upstate Niagara Cooperative to reopen dairy
The St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency Local Development Corp. has given a permissive loan of US$800,000 to Upstate Niagara Cooperative, Buffalo, to assist the company in reopening the North Lawrence Dairy.
The agreement authorises a US$400,000 loan from the St. Lawrence River Valley Redevelopment Agency, which requires joint approval from the LDC, and an additional US$400,000 loan from the LDC.
The former Breyers plant had 137 employees when its parent company, Healthy Food Holdings, announced in January the plant would close.
Upstate Niagara Cooperative plans to restart operations by August.
