Meat smuggling incidents increasing in Norway
The smuggling of meat from Sweden to Norway has been on the rise in the first five months of 2007, according to statistics from Tollvesenet, the Norwegian customs authority.
In this period, the customs authority in Svinesund confiscated more than 20 tonnes of meat, four times more than in the corresponding period in 2006. It is a form of organised crime since many people have been caught several times.
