Argentina's April 1 soy industry stocks down 1 percent on-year

 

 

Argentina's oilseed industry held soybean stocks totalling 1,157,962 tonnes as of April 1, according to the Agriculture Secretariat's latest data.

 

That puts stocks down 1 percent from the same month in 2006, when they totalled 1,171,849 tonnes.

 

Soyoil stocks totalled 256,896 tonnes as of April 1, up 40 percent from the 182,309 tonnes in stock the previous year.

 

Stocks of soy pellets totalled 734,513 tonnes up 89 percent from the 389,240 tonnes a year ago.

 

Argentina produced a record 41.3 million tonnes of soy in 2005/06, compared with 39 million a year earlier, according to the US Department of Agriculture. The country is expected to produce 45.2 million tonnes of soybean from the 2006/07 crop, according to the Agriculture Secretariat.

 

Argentina is the world's leading soyoil and soymeal exporter.

 

 

Sunseed stocks

 

Meanwhile, oilseed crushers held 640,201 tonnes of sunseed stocks as of April 1, down from the 874,859 held a year earlier.

 

Sunoil stocks totalled 108,869 tonnes, down from 120,568 tonnes a year earlier.

 

Sunseed pellet stocks were 122,936 tonnes, down from the previous year, when stocks totalled 128,029 tonnes.
