During the remaining four months of the 2012-13 season, the potential of oilseed crops processing for Ukrainian companies totals nearly 2.3-2.4 million tonnes, taking into account the supply and demand balances of the major oilseeds.

This is according to the forecast of analysts of APK-Inform Agency.

In particular, in May-August period of the current year the volume of sunflower seed processing may reach 2.2 million tonnes, or nearly 550,000 tonnes per month. The production of sunflower oil will reach 883,000 tonnes (220,000 tonnes per month).

In the reporting period, Ukraine can process 180,000 tonnes of soy, or nearly 45,000 tonnes per month.

It is possible that in the new 2013-14 marketing year some oil-extraction plants with multiple lines of oilseed processing, which main raw material is sunflower seed, will start processing soy and rapeseed, due to the high competition on the market of their traditional raw materials and relatively high prices.
