Vietnam's January-May seafood exports likely up 11.7%
In the first five months of 2012, Vietnam is estimated to have earned US$2.335 billion from seafood export, representing an on-year rise of 11.7%, the government's General Statistics Office (GSO) said Monday (May 28).
In May, the country's seafood exports are expected at US$540 million, up from US$505 million in April, the GSO said in a report.
During January-May, the Southeast Asian country has spent US$276 million on imports of aquatic materials, including US$65 million in May and US$55 million in April, the statistics showed.
Exports of seafood brought about US$6.23 billion to Vietnam last year. The country expects the exports to rise to US$6.6 billion this year.
