Monsanto spends US$1.3 million into Q1 lobbying

Monsanto Co. has released around US$1.3 million in the first quarter to lobby on farm bill provisions, biotechnology and other issues.

The company also lobbied the government on organic standards, patent reform and theft of agricultural seeds.

Monsanto's second-quarter earnings doubled on corn demand and high pricing, which has surged due to strong global food demand and a weak US dollar.
