Australian beef selling well at Japan's retail and foodservice
                   


Retail and fast food sales of Australian beef in Japan recorded strong year-on-year growth in April.

 

Retail purchase volumes of Australian beef in April grew 12 percent on-year to 10.3kg per 1,000 customers, the highest April figure on record, according to figures from the Agriculture and Livestock Industries Corporation of Japan.

 

The growth continues in May, with weekly results so far exceeding the previous year.

 

The Japanese and Western fast food businesses also increased sales year-on-year by 1.6 percent and 4.9 percent, respectively, according to data from the Japan Foodservice Association.
