Indonesian seafood exports to the US up 28 percent
  
 

Indonesia's seafood export to the US rose by 27.8 percent to US$264.3 million in the first quarter of 2008 on-year, according to Saut Hutagalung, director of international trade with the Ministry of Maritime and Fisheries on Tuesday (May 27, 2008).

 

Shrimp exports grew 57.7 percent to US$148.7 million from US$94.2 million, while tuna exports climbed 20.4 percent to US$38.8 million.

 

Overall seafood export target for 2008 is expected to reach US$2.6 billion, Hutagalung said, according to national Antara news agency.

 

Indonesia's overall seafood export in 2007 reached US$2.3 billion, with the US accounting for US$690.3 million.
