Canada to tap new seafood markets in China

Canada's New Brunswick seafood industry looks on tapping new markets in China.

Fisheries Minister Rick Doucet recently played host to a group of Chinese seafood importers in New Brunswick.

The three Chinese importers met with local fish processors and exporters to assess the industry's capability to supply China's promising market.

The visit follows two New Brunswick delegations to Asia's largest seafood show, the Chinese Fisheries and Seafood Expo, to meet with importers there and help forge new market potential.

Canadian processors and exporters have asked assistance from the fisheries department to gather better market intelligence and adapt to the needs of new export markets, Doucet said.
