Taiwan's Uni-President to invest in central Vietnam's shrimp breeding
Taiwan's retail distribution giant Uni-President has broke ground Friday (May 25) for a shrimp breeding facility in the central province of Ninh Thuan in Vietnam.
The 3.5-hectare complex which begins its operations in November this year is expected to cost US$1.2 million with a production capacity of almost 600 million shrimp annually.
Uni-President, which specializes in food processing, beverages, and retail distribution, has also entered into a partnership with the Saigon Beverages Joint Stock Company (Tribeco).
Uni-President will acquire 15 percent of Tribeco's stock and assist the firm in setting up new product lines and to expand distribution network in Southeast Asia.
Uni-President also agreed to help the southern brewer with finance, technology, and product and market development.
