Nuscience: New Chinese plant capable of 10,000 tonnes in monthly output

The Nuscience Group has announced the official opening of a new Tianjin-based facility in China, which has a monthly capacity of 10,000 tonnes and replaces an old plant in the Central Tianjin Economic Technological Development Area (TEDA).

Construction for the plant commenced in May 2014 in the western part of TEDA, and will be the "second largest plant" in the Nusicence Group, according to CEO Patrick Keereman.

Representing an investment of close to US$16.1 million, the plant carries the latest state-of-the-art technology and equipment, and will help to raise production capacity and employ new production methods to address the growing market demand in China.

In addition to premixes and concentrates, the facility is also able to produce all specialties, such as young animal nutrition, in one factory.

The plant was opened by Nuscience and its Chinese management in a ceremony that took place in the presence of the Belgian Ambassador and local executives.

"With this investment, Nuscience clearly states that it is ready for further strong growth in China," Keereman said, adding that the country is "one of the most important markets" for the Group.

Besides the plant in Tianjin, the Group also has a second operation in Suzhou and a trading company in Shanghai.

In China, Nuscience operates under the LUSAI brand, a popular trademark for credible performance, strong quality of feed products and safe animal nutrition.

Recently, the Group is seen expanding its international operations, with its acquisition of Brazil's Nutrifarma, a leading producer of premixes, concentrates, specialty feeds and additives.

Nuscience has production locations in Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Ukraine, Hungary and Serbia.
