Sinograin to offer US corn purchases to animal feed makers

China Grain Reserves Corp's imports of one million tonnes of US corn will be supplied to southern feed mills when supply is tight, according to an unidentified official of the state stockpiler, also known as Sinograin.

The corn will arrive in June and July and will be stored in state reserve warehouses in Zhejiang and Guangdong.

An official with a state grain trader said earlier that Sinograin paid RMB2,250 (US$347)/tonne on a cost-and-freight basis for the US corn.

China's corn imports in April nearly doubled from a year earlier to 7,215 tonnes, the General Administration of Customs said Monday (May 23).
