"Swedish" meat label to be introduced
A label for Swedish-produced meat has been developed by meat industry association Svenskt Kött in co-operation with LRF, Scan and retail groups Coop, Ica, Axfood and Bergendahls.
The aim is to strengthen Swedish meat farmers' position on the market, and facilitate for consumers to find domestic meat.
The label shows that the whole production chain, from breeding to packing, has taken place in Sweden.
The initiators hope that the label will be used for 60% of meat that live up to these criteria by the end of 2011.
