Australia's extended wet season enhances live export prices

Prices for live cattle exports are outstanding because of the prolonged Wet season, according to the manager of one of the Australian Northern Territory's best-known cattle stations.

Wave Hill Station manager Greg Dakin said prices normally go down when the Wet season finishes.

However, with the rain delaying the muster in the Top End, demand for export cattle is strong despite the strong Australian dollar.

"The extended wet had a bit of an impact on that. Some cattle could not get out and maybe some cattle went overweight, but the wet did have an impact."
