China to improve pork reserve systems
China recently required its local governments to establish and improve pork reserves systems and to increase the reserves scale to meet at least the seven-day consumption demand by local residents.
The notice, issued by the Ministry of Commerce on May 20, also pointed out that the areas without any reserves system should establish one as soon as possible.
Furthermore, places with better conditions should support large enterprises in increasing products such as small-packaged grain, edible oil and meat, so as to supplement China's reserves.
