Ukraine's spring grains sowing reach almost 100%

 

 

As of May 24, 2012, Ukraine sowed spring grains and leguminous crops over the areas of 8.86 million hectares, or 99% of the plan, according to operative data of the country's Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

 

Agrarians planted corn for grain throughout 4.54 million hectares (102%) of the planned 4.45 million hectares.

 

Agrarians already planted sorghum throughout 156,000 hectares (79% of the plan), buckwheat - 253,000 hectares (89%) and millet - 180,000 hectares (77%).

 

Besides, Ukraine planted soy throughout 1.297 million hectares, or 99.8% of the plan, sunflower seed - 4.067 million hectares, or 99%.

 

Also, as of May 24, agrarians re-planted the perished winter grain areas throughout 1.3 million hectares, or 86% of the forecast, including 1.014 million hectares of spring grains (437,000 hectares of barley, 443,000 hectares of corn, 54,000 hectares of sorghum, 285,000 hectares of other spring crops).
