Ukrainian pig population down 2.1% in April
In April, Ukraine's pig population fell by 2.1% or 168,500 heads compared with March, to 7,832,100 heads as of May 1, the State Statistics Service said.
Ukraine's pig population decreased by 2.3% or 100,300 heads compared to March, to 4,293,500 heads in private farms, and by 1.9% or 68,200 heads to 3,538,600 heads in specialised farms.
The pig population fell by 1.3% or 99,500 heads against May 1, 2010.
Specifically, pig population grew by 1.4% or 48,200 heads in specialised farms, and fell by 3.3% or 147,700 heads in private farms.
In March this year, the pig population rose by 0.4% or 28,500 heads compared with February, to 8,000,600 heads as of April 1.
