Venezuelan canning firm increases daily sardine output
The State-run cannery Conservas Alimenticias La Gaviota of Venezuela increased its daily production of up to 30 tonnes of sardines, distributed nationwide.
"This company located in Cumana, Sucre state, produces between 600 and 700 boxes of sardines per day, with units of up to 100 cans, depending on its presentation," said plant production manager Luisa Gomez.
Similarly, it also processes sardines in cans of 125 and 160 grams, and obtains 250 cases of coffers in cans of 140 and 125 grams. La Gaviota also produces fishmeal of about 60 sacks daily that are distributed to food producers for the fattening of animals, due to its high protein content.
Gomez added, "Yes we have increased production, depending on the quantity of raw material that reaches the company. We must maintain the union between the workers, to move forward with the firm."
