China develops first aqua products tracing system
China recently established in Fujian its first food identification tracing-down system which will soon be applied to aquatic products.
The integral traceable electronic information chain will link the whole production process from planting and breeding to production and transportation, the People's Daily Online reported.
Information will be made accessible to Chinese customers, buyers and the official import and export regulatory commission, through the batch numbers of the products.
The new identification system is expected to facilitate China's food exports to other markets, including beef and sheepmeat exports to South-East Asia and the Middle East.
