US to ease imports of South Korean chicken and beef
The US is working to allow imports of Korean ginseng chicken soup and beef in accordance with a recent beef deal, according to South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Friday (May 23, 2008).
During trade talks in Seoul, the US said they would step up on import procedures and send inspectors to South Korean poultry processing facilities, the ministry said.
The ministry also said the US has promised to do its best to complete procedures for granting South Korea status as a foot-and-mouth disease-free country at an early date.
Last month, the two countries agreed to ease South Korea's exports of ginseng chicken soup and beef to the US.
