USGC hosts first DDGS symposium in Japan

The US Grain Council (USGC) hosted the first DDGS workshop in Miyazaki and Tokyo, Japan on May 15-16.

The symposiums were geared to bring together USGC trade members and potential Japanese customers to discuss the availability, utilization and shipping options of DDGS, the council said.

Participating council member suppliers also set up a mini trade show.

Steve Markham, grain marketing senior trader at CHS Inc., said that the workshops allowed time for traders to introduce their companies to the Japanese audience.

Around 100 people attended the Miyazaki workshop, which targeted broiler and layer, beef, dairy and swine industry representatives, the council said.

Meanwhile, approximately 61 people participated in the Tokyo conference, which focused on commercial feed mills, trading companies and related industry delegates.
