Czech Republic provides Vietnam with bird flu antiseptic

The Czech Republic would be providing Vietnam with 40 tonnes of antiseptic worth US$200,000 to help the country fight bird flu, in an announcement on May 25 (Thursday).

Despite its success in bird flu control, Vietnam is preventing a recurrence by deploying various measures, said Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat.

The country has also drawn up plans for a national programme on bird flu and human influenza by 2010, the minister added.

Vietnam has reported no new bird flu outbreak in the last five months. The risk of a recurrence, however, is still high, experts warned.
