China's grain yield may rise 0.23% on-year

 

 

The 2012 grain output in China is forecast to total 572.8 million tonnes, more than the previous estimate of 571.2 million tonnes and higher by 0.23% on-year, according to latest data released by Beijing Orient Agribusiness Consultant Ltd (BOABC).

 

It is estimated that the cultivated area of grain crops may reach 112.33 million hectares in 2012, up 1.59% on-year but lower than the previously-expected 1.76%.

 

Wheat production is expected to grow in terms of cultivated area, per unit yield and gross output in 2012. The gross output of wheat is expected to reach 119.3 tonnes. The planting area and output of corns are expected to hit a new high, and the gross output is expected to hit 197.2 million tonnes. Under centralised seedling and greenhouse seedling subsidy policy launched in northeast China, the gross output of rice is likely to hit 202.67 million tonnes this year, up 1.23% on-year.
