Russian grain supplies lowers by 6.1%
In the agricultural, harvesting and processing groups of the Russian Federation, the average grain supplies by the start of May 2012 amounted to 22 million tonnes, 1.4 million tonnes (or 6.1%) lower than May 2011.
According to the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), the grain stocks in agricultural organisations increased by 800,000 tonnes (up 8.9%) compared to May 1, 2011, in the harvesting and processing organisations the index decreased by 2.2 million tonnes (down 15.9%).
Meanwhile, the country has shipped 25 million tonnes of grain and exports may reach 26 million to 27 million tonnes this season. Russia's carry-over stocks are seen at 20 million tonnes by July 1.
