Canada's poultry value and egg production rose in 2011

Canada's chicken sales in 2011 rose by 14.1% in comparison to 2010.

According to Statistics Canada's Canadian Poultry and Egg Statistics for January to March 2012, Canadian farmers produced 1.2 million tonnes of poultry meat in 2011. Chicken, including stewing hens, rose 0.4% from 2010.

Turkey meat production also increased 0.4% from the previous year.

The value of egg sales in 2011 rose by as much as 9.2% compared to a year earlier. Egg production rose 0.9% from 2010.
