Ukraine likely to export 20 million tonnes of grain

The Ukrainian Grain Association expects Ukraine to export 20 million tonnes of grain crops between July 2011-June 2012.

"We should be ready that Ukraine is likely to export close to 20 million tonnes," said Association President Volodymyr Klymenko.

Klymenko noted that the volume of rational export of grain was 4.298 million tonnes as of May 1, and the carry-over for the next marketing year will be 6 million tonnes.

Traders can export close to 2 million tonnes of grain by the end of the current marketing year, if the quotation of exports of wheat and barley is cancelled.

Volodymyr Klymenko expects Ukraine to harvest between 43 million-48 million tonnes of grain crops in 2011.

Ukraine exported 9.489 million tonnes of grain crops in the July-April period of the 2010-2011 marketing year.

The Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry expects Ukraine to export 19-20 million tonnes in the 2011-2012 marketing year.

The USDA expects Ukraine to export 18.5 million tonnes of grain crops in the 2011-2012 marketing year.
