Vietnam's exports of tra fish to Russia this year will surpass the 2009 volume of 40,000 tonnes, according to Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers.

Local firms have so far signed deals with Russian partners to ship abroad 5,000 tonnes of tra fish monthly by the end of 2010, the association said.

Vietnam has seen stagnancy in exporting tra fish to Russia with only 6,000 tonnes in the first four months of this year, mostly due to low demand.

Vietnam Steering Board for Tra Fish Export to Russia will meet Russian importers to discuss ways to boost the exports to the market, particularly in summer.
