Minnesota's soy planting show significant progress
In its weekly crop weather report for Minnesota, the USDA said Monday (May 24) that soy planting was 81% complete.
That is an advance of 34% a week earlier and it is ahead of both last year and the five-year average. Other crops nearing planting completion included canola, potatoes and green peas. All three crops were at least 93% planted.
Temperatures reached the highest levels so far this year, about five degrees above normal. Scattered precipitation affected central and southern Minnesota but produced no significant accumulation. State-wide, 5.5 days were rated suitable for fieldwork.
