German minced meat sales increasing in 1Q
Private households in Germany have been hesitant when buying meat in the 1st quarter of 2009, according to local news media reports.
Dates from the Association for Consumer Research (ACR) indicate that private consumption went down 3 percent year-on-year. Pork went down 3.3 percent, but minced meat sales improved almost 6 percent.
These quarterly figures indicate a trend that started in the second half of 2008 - and that has now become stronger, as consumers are still buying meat, but are inclined to buy less expensive products.
