90% Of China's Vitamin C Consumption is in Medicinal Application; Demand for Stable Coated Vitamin C Outstrips Output
An eFeedLink Exclusive Report
According to a recent survey, China's consumption of vitamin C for medicinal application, food and feed additives is in the ratio of 9: 0.6: 0.4 respectively. In the international markets, 55% of vitamin C consumption is for medicinal use, while 35% is used in food and beverages production and the remaining 10% is used as feed additives.
As vitamin C has a wide range of applications and a wide variety of derivatives, there is ample room for further development of new vitamin C products.
Currently, the best-selling vitamin C products in China are ascorbic acid, sodium ascorbate (calcium), phosphate vitamin C, coated vitamin C granules (95%-97%), and cellulose-ascorbic acid. According to industry insiders, China's production of stable coated vitamin C is still insufficient in meeting its domestic demand.
