Iran exports 15,000 tonnes of eggs

In the first two months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), Iran exported 15,000 tonnes of eggs.

Announcing this, Hedayat Asghari, director general of the Union of Producers of Egg Laying Chickens, said the production of 7,500 tonnes of eggs per month was projected in the current year.

"The figure for the Iranian month of Farvardin (March 21-February 20) exceeded the target," he said.

The official said Iraq, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kuwait and UAE are among the target markets of Iran's egg exports.

Asghari also said negotiations are underway for the export of poultry products to Russia.

In February, Asghari said there is surplus egg production across the country. He estimated that close to 85,000 tonnes of eggs would be produced per month, while domestic demand stands at 65,000 tonnes per month. "Iran exports eggs to Iraq, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kuwait," he said.
