Kazakhstan to ship out six million tonnes of grain

Kazakhstan will be exporting about six million tonnes of grain in the 2010-11 marketing year, according to the Minister of Agriculture, Asylzhan Mamytbekov on Friday (May 20).

At the same time, he noted that during the last five years, Kazakhstan consistently entered the top ten exporters of grain in the world.

Previously, it was reported that Kazakhstan can export up to 5.5 million tonnes of wheat in the current marketing year.

"One and a half months ago, the ministry of agriculture has adjusted its export potential, and in this marketing year, it is approximately 5.5 million tonnes for wheat," said Mamytbekov.

It was reported in March this year that the ministry of agriculture has lowered forecasts for grain exports in the 2010-11 marketing year to six million tonnes.

Meanwhile, the export potential for grain in the 2010-11 marketing year is eight million tonnes, according to the USDA.
