French wheat exports down to 10.5 million tonnes in April
Soft wheat exports from France fell 8 percent year on year to 10.5 million tonnes by April 1, customs data showed on Wednesday (May 23).
French wheat shipments to other European Union countries in the first nine months of the (July-June) 2006/07 were down 10 percent at 6.2 million tonnes, whereas those outside the EU-27 bloc dropped 4 percent to 4.3 million.
Algeria remained the top buyer of French wheat with 1.8 million tonnes, up 30 percent year on year.
The data also showed corn shipments were down 8 percent at 4.3 million tonnes while barley exports increased by 4 percent to 3.8 million tonnes.
