Singapore suspends beef from fifth Brazilian beef plant
Earlier this month, the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), banned exports from a Brazilian beef processing plant due to the detection of nitrofuran residues in its products.
The Sao Paulo based plant is now the fifth plant in Brazil to be banned.
The first four plants were banned after foot and mouth disease outbreaks were first detected in the Brazilian states of Mato Grosso Do Sul and Parana last year.
The latest suspension leaves 16 Brazilian beef processing plants in Brazil still exporting to Singapore.
