US beef exports sees slight rise from previous week


 

At 14,000 tonnes, shipments for US beef export have seen a slight rise from the previous week, according to Drovers Cattle Network. 


The four-week average is up 9%, moving the 27-week average to 12,314 tonnes.


Primary shipments were made to Japan with 4,300 tonnes. Other destinations include Hong Kong at 2,600 tonnes, Mexico at 2,300 tonnes, South Korea at 2,100 tonnes, and Canada at 1,200 tonnes.


Beef export sales decline 5% from the previous week, with a purchase of 12,200 tonnes. The 11% drop in the 4-week average moved the 27-week average to 13,488 tonnes. Compared to a month ago, export sales went down by 9,700 tonnes.


Japan leads purchases with 4,500 tonnes of beef.


The rest of the countries include Mexico at 2,200 tonnes, South Korea at 2,000 tonnes, Canada at 1,600 tonnes, and Hong Kong at 500 tonnes.


Export sales do not directly relate to shipments.
