Tyson to invest US$15.5 million in expanding US facility's operation

Food processor, Tyson Foods, will invest US$15.5 million to expand its present operations in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, US.

The company will also hire and train 157 new workers, in light of the latest development.

The investment should see the addition of four production lines as well as increased cold storage capabilities at the Tyson Fresh Meats facility in Goodlettsville.

"I want to thank Tyson Foods for investing in our state and creating these high quality jobs for Middle Tennessee", said the Governor of Tennessee, Bill Haslam.

"When well-established companies like Tyson Foods choose to expand and reinvest in our state, it sends a strong message that Tennessee is one of the best places to do business and supports our goal of becoming the number one location in the Southeast for high quality jobs."

In the meantime, work has commenced with the installation of new equipment. Hiring is expected to begin in June for the new production jobs.

Tyson Foods and its subsidiaries employ more than 4,300 Tennesseans at company facilities in Goodlettsville, Shelbyville and Union City.

They also support about 335 Tennessee farmers who raise chickens for the company's poultry operations and supply cattle and hogs to beef and pork operations.
