China's soy imports down by 15% in Jan-Apr
 

 

In January-April 2013, China's soy imports decreased by 15% to 15.5 million tonnes compared to the 18.2 million tonnes imported in the same period of last year.

 

Imports from Brazil decreased to 2.7 million tonnes from 5.1 million tonnes, while those from the USA remained unchanged at 12.3 million tonnes and those from Canada increased to 418,000 tonnes from 108,000 tonnes. Rapeseed imports rose to 1.2 million tonnes from 1.1 million tonnes and were mainly coming from Canada.

 

Soyoil imports decreased to 220,000 tonnes from 393,000 tonnes, thereof those from Brazil to 42,000 tonnes from 247,000 tonnes and those from Argentina to 132,000 tonnes from 148,000 tonnes. Rapeseed oil imports amounted to 450,000 tonnes from 292,000 tonnes and came mainly from Canada.

 

Palm oil imports increased to 2.1 million tonnes from 1.9 million tonnes, thereof those from Indonesia to 854,000 tonnes from 824,000 tonnes and those from Malaysia to 1.2 million tonnes from 1.0 million tonnes.
