China's 2012 cotton yield to reach over seven million tonnes

The cotton output of China will reach 7.28 million tonnes this year, the China Cotton Association announced on Friday (May 18).

It will import 4.5 million tonnes of cotton this year and cotton consumption will hit nine million tonnes.

Meanwhile, as of the end of March the country bought 3.13 million tonnes of cotton for state reserves, accounting for over 40% of the yearly yield.
