South Korean industry officials promote poultry consumption
South Korean poultry industry officials are encouraging the public to consume poultry due to falling sales.
Sales have fallen sharply due to the bird flu scare and industry officers are asking the government to take action, as they blames the state and media reports for causing serious damage to their businesses.
About a thousand members of related interest groups including the Korea Franchise Association held a promotional rally at the City Hall Plaza yesterday. They said the bird flu is a respiratory disease that does not pass through food, adding that poultry are safe to eat as long as it is cooked.
To reassure consumers, they showed people enjoying the consumption of chicken on the spot.
