US pork, poultry supplies in cold storage up in April
As of April 30, supplies of turkey, chicken, pork, eggs, butter and beef in refrigerated warehouses in the US were up from last year's levels.
Total red meat supplies in cold storage were 1 percent more than the previous month and up 14 percent from last year.
Frozen pork supplies were down slightly from March but up 23 percent from 2007. Stocks of pork bellies were up 1 percent from last month and up 62 percent from the previous year.
Total frozen poultry supplies on April 30, were 4 percent more than March and 28 percent from 2007.
Total stocks of chicken were down 1 percent from the previous month but up 24 percent from last year.
Total pounds of turkey in freezers grew 15 percent from last month and up 37 percent year-on-year.
