Norway's chicken processor failing to meet demand despite full shifts
Despite working at full capacity and hitting a new production record of one million kg of chickens a year, Norway's Nortura, a chicken processor is still unable to meet demand.
The company expects production in 2007 at 47 million kg, up 20 percent from 2005, and 2008 production at 55 million kg up 17 percent. Slaughter weights might also be raised, the company said.
To expand, Nortura is contracting 30-40 new poultry farms and expanding capacity at existing farms.
