Alltech's Medal of Excellence winner to visit Asia-Pacific

Alltech's 2006 Medal of Excellence winner Professor Peter Ferket, of North Carolina State University, USA, will visit the Asia-Pacific region from Jun 6 - 16, 2006. Ferket won the medal at the opening of Alltech's recent Annual Feed Industry Symposium in Lexington, Kentucky, USA.

Professor Ferket has a Ph.D. in animal nutrition from Iowa State, and is currently a professor of nutrition for the Department of Agricultural and Life Sciences at North Carolina State University. Dr Ferket is also a faculty member at the Institution of Nutrition at the University of North Carolina.
During his visit to the Asia-Pacific region, he will discuss issues relating to nutrition and feeding practices of commercial poultry with key customers across Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and India.
Professor Ferket received the prestigious Medal of Excellence Award in recognition of his commitment throughout his professional career to issues relating to nutrition and feeding practices. |

In his acceptance speech at Alltech's symposium, Dr Ferket presented on "Embracing the challenges of the animal feed industry." He emphasised the importance of capturing the full value of feed ingredients, especially those derived from grains through the strategic use of supplemental enzyme preparations. These natural blends of enzymes can be produced by solid state fermentation.
As a Medal of Excellence winner, Professor Ferket joins a list of outstanding researchers, including: Dr Mingan Choct, University of New England; Dr Charles Maxwell, University of Arkansas, USA; Dr Trevor Smith, University of Guelph, Canada; and Dr Frank Edens, North Carolina State University, USA.
