Ireland's live cattle exports rise by 17%
From the start of 2014 to May, Ireland's live cattle exports rose 17% compared to the same period of 2013.
Ireland exported 127,094 head of cattle in the first five months, with the Netherlands and Spain being the major buyers. Over 14,000 extra cattle were shipped to the two countries compared to 2013.
Exports to the UK also rose significantly by 21%, representing over 3,000 extra head; while exports to Italy and Libya surged 35% and 57% respectively.
