Brazil's milk prices continue to rise in April

Brazil's milk prices increased 6.16% in April to BRL1.08 (US$0.49) per litre (gross price - including freight and taxes), due to the decrease in milk production in March.

The price increase is the second month in a row.

According to the survey by Brazil's Centre for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics, producers say the increase is mainly due to the drop in production in March.

The off-season began in some producing regions, while other regions, such as South Brazil, were trying to step up. The smaller supply pushed up the competition for raw material among companies, resulting in a price rise.
