FTA between Norway and China to boost salmon exports
Talks about a possible free trade agreement between Norway and China are expected to increase exports to and knowledge of salmon in China.
The popularity of Norwegian salmon in China is a boost to the fishing and aquaculture industries in Norway.
Last year, Hong Kong and China's imports of Norwegian salmon grew by 30 percent to 21,000 tonnes. Most are fresh.
At present, the Norwegian Seafood Export Council plans to further publicise and market its salmon to consumers in China through cooking competitions, in-store promotions, seafood festivals, market analysis and educational projects.
There are also plans to export other fish species, including herring.
